This is A Friday 24th, January 2025, TERRAIN REPORTER™ Exclusive News Articles Author By Justin Okpu, From Asaba, Delta State.
The National Assembly is currently reviewing several bills proposing the creation of new states in Nigeria, as part of an ongoing amendment of the 1999 Constitution.
These proposals, submitted in 2024 by lawmakers and various interest groups, have either scaled the first or second readings and are awaiting further deliberation and possible approval.
Presently, Nigeria comprised of 36 states unevenly distributed across the six geopolitical zones. The marginalised south east geopolitical zone has the least comprised of five states, four other zones has six states while a zone has the highest of seven states.
The Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko playing pivotal and excellent role with the sponsorship of the *"Bill For An Act Proposing To A New Anioma State Creation"* from the current Delta State.
Recently, it was reported in the News that the proposed Anioma State Creation occupies third (3rd) item on schedule of new states to be created, under the constitution amendment act 1999 by Nigeria's 10th National Assembly and to be assented by the President of Nigeria as soon as it is passed.
As a point of focused discussion and understanding, the proposed Anioma State Creation which is currently located in Delta State of the south-south Geopolitical zone, while 50 years of yearning for their state by the people of Delta North Senatorial District, including public outcry of uneven governance against them, qualifies it as the most favourite of all seeking new state in the current process of amending the constitution.
Certainly in an effort to retain the current Delta State status, certainly reveals the clandestine reasons Delta North is unjustly merged with their neighbouring communities of strange cultural diversity, which over years of existence have unnecessarily and deliberately created opportunities for unwarranted cultural influence, inter-tribal discord and marginalisation unduly made against the Anioma people by non Anioma leadership,
Yet again by now, some discordant pundits and public commentators would have discovered few days ago, with over a 100 solidarity groups whom visited with the legislator's Idumuje Ugboko country home, has proven distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko's excellent performance general acceptability and got himself prepared for the enormous tasks ahead.
The workaholic Senator Ned Nwoko in his usual countenance, looking very elated and confident had promised his visitors that Anioma State Creation would soon become a reality, when the constitution amendment committee would have positively completed it's assignment on the bill for passage by Senate.
The Distinguished Senator Prince Ned Nwoko had consistently told visiting groups at different forum as he addressed supporters that kept trooping in their numbers to his country home, Idumuje Ugboko, further explained his priority for now at the National Assembly, is all about his people and the creation of Anioma state.
He had emphasized on his firm control of the process, as the sponsor of the Anioma State Creation Bill, when he reiterated as quote below;
*"I am the driver , that knows when and how to navigate to my destination."*
*"So I'm so sure that Anioma state creation is a done deal."*
The impromptu solidarity visit made by these groups, gave them opportunity to collectively demanded that the Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko should immediately join Nigeria's ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) justifying the political will that would usher the *"NEW ANIOMA STATE"* from It's incubation at the National Assembly.
Last weekend's eventful visit by the solidarity groups has started to open up an avalanche of discontents against Senator Ned Nwoko for accepting such a swift and split decision to leave PDP for APC, in order to galvanise a great future for the Anioma people.
